
Alzheimer's Disease or Related Disorders Training Curriculum for Assisted Living Facilities (4-Hour)

Effective July 1, 2023, s. 430.5025, Florida Statutes requires assisted living facilities that advertises and provides, or is designated to provide, specialized care for persons with Alzheimer’s disease or related forms of dementia to teach the 3-hour curriculum and a 4-hour additional required training for ALFs that provided specialized memory care.
FHCA's 4-hour training curriculum* for the Special Care of Assisted Living Facility Residents with Alzheimer's Disease or Related Disorders (ADRD) is approved by the Department of Elder Affairs to meet the requirements in s. 430.5025, Florida Statutes. This product includes curriculum for the 4-hour required training that can be used by ALFs that provide specialized memory care. *Please note this is curriculum for providers to teach the required training(s). Florida statute requires that all individuals who wish to teach ADRD training for new hires obtain approval through DOEA. This FHCA training curriculum is approved for 3 years and will expire on October 1, 2028.
*For ALFs that do not provide specialized memory care, the curriculum for the 3-hour training that is required for all ALFs can be purchased separately here.
The curriculum includes:
- Understanding ADRD and the stages of those diseases
- Medical information
- Guidance on resident communication
- Behavioral management
- Stress management for the caregiver
- Ethical considerations when caring for residents with ADRD
- Power Point presentation
- Certificate of completion
- Pre-and post-tests
COST: $250 FHCA Members | $350 Nonmembers
*Individuals who wish to teach/train using the FHCA training curricula must be approved by DOEA and have documentation of specific educational, teaching, or practical experience required for the setting in which they wish to provide the training. At this time, trainer approvals do not expire. Please see the specific criteria for each setting type from DOEA’s materials here.
