FHCA's RAI Bootcamp is an on-demand training designed to prepare the interdisciplinary team for completing the Minimum Data Set with the Resident Assessment Instrument to accurately and efficiently document and capture needed information. RB Health Partners’ leading subject matter experts will provide information about each area of the comprehensive assessment required to support best practices and ensure that requirements are followed. Each area of the MDS is presented in detail to support successful compliance. 

After viewing the program, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the purpose of the RAI process.
  • Explain the three components of the RAI.
  • Discuss the various uses of the RAI process.
  • Discuss Problem Identification using the RAI process.

Robin's passion is teaching and training with a focus on risk management as a means to help improve quality and resident outcomes while increasing long term care professional's work satisfaction. Robin worked as a nursing assistant, LPN, RN, DON, regional nurse, CCO, and COO. She now owns and operates RB Health Partners, Inc. (RBHPs) a long term care consultancy firm for the past 20 years. RBHPs employs an interdisciplinary team of subject matter experts and consultants to support long term care providers meet their quality improvement goals.

Nathan Shaw

Nathan Shaw, RN, BSN, MBA, HCRM, RAC-CTA, has enjoyed a nursing career for over 29 years with the past 25 years in long-term care. His experience covers direct patient care to management in positions from Staff Nurse, MDS Coordinator, ADON, Regional MDS Consultant, as well as Corporate Director of Clinical Reimbursement. With RB Health Partners, Mr. Shaw works as the Vice President of Clinical Reimbursement & Analytics. Mr. Shaw has a passion for education and enjoys presenting to facility staff on a one-on-one or group setting basis.

Katie Slier

Katie Slier has specialized as a Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) consultant for over 8 years and is actively advanced certified as a Resident Assessment Coordinator through AAPACN. Katie brings over a decade of focused practice in acute and long-term care. Katie is excellent in the auditing process, which includes targeted reviews of the Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM), Medicaid case-mix, Quality Measures, the Five-Star Quality Rating Program, the Skilled Nursing Facility Quality Reporting Program (SNF QRP), and the Skilled Nursing Facility Value-Based Purchasing Program (SNF VBP). She is enthusiastic about staff education, specifically related to the RAI process, PDPM, and Quality Measures.

Heather Py

Director of Health Information Management

Heather L. Py, is the Director of Health Information Management with RB Health Partners, Inc. She began her career in long-term care as a Certified Nurse Aid and worked her way up to Medical Records Coordinator. Mrs. Py holds an Associates in Science Degree in Health Information Management (HIM). She is an active member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and is certified as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), and Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS). She is also a member of the American Association of Post-Acute Nurse Care Nursing (AAPACN) and holds an Advanced Certification as a Resident Assessment Coordinator (RAC-CTA). As a subject matter expert in long-term care, Heather brings over 26 years of knowledge and experience to her clients in the areas of health information management and diagnosis coding.
