Decreasing Respiratory Rehospitalizations On-Demand Webinar

Decreasing Respiratory Rehospitalizations On-Demand Webinar

As part of the skilled nursing center's efforts to reduce rehospitalizations, nurses should be comfortable with early detection of respiratory changes, which is one of the most common reasons that residents are transferred to the hospital. This on-demand webinar is designed to help clinical teams manage residents with respiratory concerns, including recognizing early indicators of respiratory distress, to decrease the center's rehospitalizations. Featuring Henry Marquez, a skilled respiratory therapist, this training provides simple and helpful strategies to help teams strengthen their nursing skills and interventions.

The on-demand webinar is free to FHCA members and can be used as part of a brief, focused in-service to strengthen staff confidence in identifying subtle changes before they escalate. Reinforcing early recognition, timely assessment, and appropriate provider communication can significantly reduce avoidable hospital transfers related to respiratory compromise.

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Review age-related respiratory complications
  • Discuss pre-admission history and physical attributes to help manage residents with respiratory compromise
  • Review medications and supportive devices used frequently for residents with respiratory illnesses
  • Identify items to help increase communication to help decrease rehospitalizations
