This annual webinar is designed to provide strategies and tools to assist nursing centers and assisted living facilities as they gear up to weather the hurricane season. This education will cover preparedness tips and best practices from the Agency for Health Care Administration, an overview of power restoration, evacuations and provider response, as well as resources available from Florida’s Health Care Coalitions to support providers before, during, and after hurricane landfall.

Bernard Hudson
Chief, Bureau Health Facility Regulation
Agency for Health Care Administration
Bernard Hudson has worked in health and human service programs for over 20 years with a focus in data analysis, incident reporting and health care facility regulation compliance with both state and federal requirements where applicable. He served as the Emergency Coordinating Officer for the Agency and most recently as the Long-Term Care Services Unit Manager where he was responsible for the regulation of providers that offered long-term care services. Bernard currently serves as Chief of the Bureau of Health Facility Regulation in the Division of Health Care Policy and Oversight. He has served in this role since December of2021 and has oversight of four licensure units, the division's rule coordination section and the Certificate of Need/Commercial Managed Care unit.
Mel Beal

Mel Beal is an experienced healthcare executive with over 40 years in long-term care leadership. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Airamid Health Services (since 2011). Previously, he was Senior Vice President of Operations at Extendicare Health Services and held several leadership roles at Beverly Enterprises, including Vice President of Operations. Mel holds a B.S.N. from The Ohio State University and has held licenses as a Registered Nurse and Nursing Home Administrator. He has served on numerous industry boards, including the Florida Health Care Association, Our Florida Promise, and Florida Health Care Quality Partners bringing deep expertise and a long-standing commitment to quality care and operational excellence.
