FHCA's Creative Connections: An Activity & Life Enrichment Professionals Training is designed to equip Activity and Life Enrichment professionals with creative tools and proven strategies to enhance resident well-being. From understanding a complex regulatory environment, fostering cognitive engagement for all residents, building emotional connections and gathering feedback to enhance resident experiences, this  comprehensive training provides everything needed to inspire joy, promote socialization, and create a vibrant atmosphere in skilled nursing centers and assisted living communities. 

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Describe key federal regulations related to activities programs
  • Create meaningful, person-centered experiences that enhance quality of life across the continuum of residents' care needs
  • Transform an overwhelming calendar to an effective one for residents and employees
  • Learn how the required CoreQ resident satisfaction and AHRQ patient safety culture surveys are administered on behalf of skilled nursing facilities

Presenters: Kim Broom, Director of Clinical & Risk Management, and Susan Anderson, Director of Regulatory Affairs, both with FHCA; Hannah Jacobs, Director of Life Enrichment with Aston Health; Jennifer Hayter, Life Enrichment Director with De Luna Health and Rehabilitation Center; Dakotah Nalley, Client Services Consultant with Millennial Health Services; Stephen Lomonico, President of Thrive Behavioral Sciences; and Christian Wilbeck, Director of Survey Services with Carefeed.

Virtual, on-demand Program
Attendees will earn a total of 4 computer-based CEUs, including CE credits for activity professionals from the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP). FHCA will post contact hours to CE Broker upon program completion

Susan Anderson currently serves as the Director of Regulatory Affairs for Florida Health Care Association. In this position, she concentrates on supporting the legislative, regulatory, and policy activities on behalf of association members for nursing centers and assisted living facilities. Ms. Anderson has experience in seniors housing and in developing public policy positions and advising on regulatory compliance. Ms. Anderson is an active member of the Florida Bar.

Kim Broom is FHCA Director of Clinical & Risk Management. She has been a Registered Nurse for 38 years, with 27 years in long term care as a Director of Nursing, Regional Nurse Consultant and other roles. She is a risk manager and for six years was the administrator of a 68-bed assisted living facility with an Extended Congregate Care license. She has recently received her Certification in Infection Control (CIC) as well. She came to FHCA in May of 2017 and is the liaison to the Senior Clinicians Council, Risk Compliance Council, Infection Prevention Council, and the Florida Center for Assisted Living (FCAL) Committee.

Christian Wilbeck is the Director of Survey Services at Carefeed, where he leads the development and implementation of survey programs that help healthcare organizations measure and improve experience and satisfaction outcomes. With more than 20 years of experience designing customer and employee experience programs, Christian has partnered with organizations ranging from Fortune 100 companies to healthcare systems to build data-driven feedback strategies. His background includes leadership roles at Medallia, Perceptyx, and IBM Kenexa, as well as leading enterprise employee experience strategy for a global agribusiness company with more than 40,000 employees. Christian brings deep expertise in survey design, analytics, and experience measurement programs, including regulatory healthcare surveys.

Hannah Jacobs, CTRS, CDP, CADDCT, has 10 years of experience in the long term and dementia care. Through her career as a Recreational Therapist, she has worked in Memory Care, SNF, and ALF. Hannah has served as a guest lecturer, speaker, and trainer for Activities Directors, and currently serves as the Director of Life Enrichment and Employee Culture at Aston Health.

Georgette currently has the honor of serving as a Regional Social Services Director with the Avante Group, where she supports Social Services and Activities teams across their skilled nursing facilities throughout Florida. She is deeply passionate about ensuring every resident is cared for with dignity, compassion, and purpose, while maintaining strong regulatory compliance and survey readiness. As a dementia care leader, she is committed to meaningful, person-centered programming. She guides teams in creating engaging experiences for residents of all functioning levels, emphasizing that every interaction can be therapeutic and impactful. She especially enjoys coaching Activity Directors to think creatively, maximize available resources, and bring joy into everyday moments. Her leadership is rooted in service, faith, and collaboration, with a heart-centered approach to empowering teams to lead with excellence while making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
