Includes a Live Web Event on 09/25/2026 at 1:00 PM (EDT)

Friday, September 25 | 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. EST

Long term care providers often face challenges during the voting season, such as meeting deadlines and identifying best practices. Providers play a vital role in removing obstacles for residents who wish to vote and in implementing safeguards for more vulnerable residents. This members-only webinar will discuss practical strategies, best practices and the importance of communicating with local election officials. Attendees will be equipped with essential resources and connections beneficial for their centers.

Upon completion, participants will be able to:
  • Discover state and local election resources relevant for communities.
  • Determine safeguards that can be established.
  • Prioritize implementation of policies that incorporate recommended best practices.

Occupational Therapist and National Training Coordinator

The Center for Vulnerable Voters

Laura Williams retired as an Occupational Therapist after a 30-year career dedicated to improving the independence and quality of life for older adults in various geriatric settings.

In 2023, while helping a long-term care facility director navigate the voting process, Laura witnessed firsthand the barriers older voters face—confusing forms, varying state policies, and inconsistent staff knowledge. Driven to close those gaps, she joined the Center for Vulnerable Voters as National Training Coordinator, using her clinical background to help communities identify and implement best practices and safeguards for residential voting.

She and her husband reside in Iowa and enjoy spending time with their adult children.
