Clostridioides Difficile infections (CDI) continue to be a challenge for long term care facilities. Many questions related to infection prevention and management of this resistant infection occur. As part of the skilled nursing facility's comprehensive infection control and prevention plan, it is important to ensure teams are looking to identify gaps in infection prevention and control. CDI infections can lead to severe dehydration and even death for the fragile elderly resident. This on-demand webinar provides an overview of risk identification for CDI, including how to ensure the facility is properly identifying acquired infections versus nosocomial infections. Prevention strategies, including the concerns with proper environmental cleaning, are also discussed.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Identify five risk factors for Clostriodioides Difficile infection (CDI)
- Describe surveillance case definition for CDI
- Discuss strategies to prevent transmission of CDI
