This decision tree will help guide skilled nursing providers with reporting to the appropriate entities when there is an incident in the facility. It can be used to review reporting to the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), Florida Department of Health (DOH) and for Federal Immediate Reporting and State Adverse Incident reporting requirements for the skilled nursing facility.
Developed by FHCA's Risk/Compliance Council Elopement Workgroup for FHCA members-only, these resources should be used as a guide and not construed as legal advice. Facilities should consult with their clinicians, legal counsel and other appropriate team members on these and other risk management activities.
