This training equips social workers with the knowledge and confidence to navigate critical responsibilities related to reporting suspicions of abuse. Participants will learn to recognize signs of abuse, neglect, and exploitation, understand their duty to report suspected harm, and strengthen their understanding of advance directives. The training also clarifies key legal obligations, helping social workers protect client rights while ensuring safety and compliance.

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize signs of abuse, neglect and exploitation
  • Discuss reporting responsibilities and suspicions of abuse
  • Define key topics related to advance directives
  • Identify the legal responsibilities of the social worker

Virtual, Live Broadcast Program 
Attendees will earn a total of 2 computer-based CEUs. The program will be delivered via a two-hour virtual, live session on June 17, 2026, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. EST. Registered attendees will receive an email by June 16, 2026, with instructions on how to access the virtual training, which will be broadcast via Zoom. Attendees must complete the post-test by June 8 at 4:00 p.m. EST to receive CEUs.

Kim Broom is FHCA Director of Clinical & Risk Management. She has been a Registered Nurse for 38 years, with 27 years in long term care as a Director of Nursing, Regional Nurse Consultant and other roles. She is a risk manager and for six years was the administrator of a 68-bed assisted living facility with an Extended Congregate Care license. She has recently received her Certification in Infection Control (CIC) as well. She came to FHCA in May of 2017 and is the liaison to the Senior Clinicians Council, Risk Compliance Council, Infection Prevention Council, and the Florida Center for Assisted Living (FCAL) Committee.

Susan Anderson currently serves as the Director of Regulatory Affairs for Florida Health Care Association. In this position, she concentrates on supporting the legislative, regulatory, and policy activities on behalf of association members for nursing centers and assisted living facilities. Ms. Anderson has experience in seniors housing and in developing public policy positions and advising on regulatory compliance. Ms. Anderson is an active member of the Florida Bar.

The program will be delivered via a two-hour virtual, live session on June 17, 2026, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. EST.
