J. Emmett Reed, CAE, has served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Florida Health Care Association since 2009, where he is also the appointed CEO of the Association’s advocacy partner, Our Florida Promise. As FHCA’s chief executive, he is responsible for overall operations and directing Association staff to implement the goals and objectives set forth by the Board of Directors. Reed focuses on leading FHCA on an upward trend, strengthening member relations, building successful coalitions to accomplish legislative priorities and promoting new and existing initiatives to help meet members’ quality care and operational needs.

This virtual, live training will provide the entire nursing center interdisciplinary team with a detailed overview of CMS' new survey revisions/regulatory guidelines for skilled nursing facilities and how surveyors will use this guidance to determine compliance.

On November 18, 2024, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released Revised Long-Term Care (LTC) Surveyor Guidance: Significant revisions to enhance quality and oversight of the LTC Survey Process. The memo included significant changes to guidance in Appendix PP related to the updated regulatory areas. The changes will be effective, and surveyors will begin surveying based on the revised guidance, on February 24, 2025.
FHCA will host a virtual, live training on February 5, 2025, from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. EST, that will provide the entire nursing center interdisciplinary team with a detailed overview of these new survey revisions and regulatory guidelines and how surveyors will use this guidance to determine compliance for skilled nursing facilities. The two-hour program will feature the RB Health Partners, Inc. team, who will outline changes related to unnecessary psychotropic medications, resident admissions, transfers and discharges and other areas that affect daily operations and care.

FHCA’s Paid Feeding Assistant Training Curriculum is approved by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) and designed to prepare centers to train new and existing staff to safely assist with feeding residents.
FHCA’s Paid Feeding Assistant Training Program is approved by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) and prepares centers to train new and existing staff to safely assist with feeding residents. This specialized staff training program supports nursing centers with compliance with Federal Code of Regulations (CFR) 483.60. The curriculum covers infection control, communication, emergency procedures, techniques and appropriate responses to resident behavior and provides comprehensive information on how to meet all regulatory requirements.
FHCA's Paid Feeding Assistant Training Program is a 12-hour course (8 hours classroom training/4 hours clinical training). It includes a Course Outline and Program Overview, with chapters focused on training specific to the areas of:
